Here are two words from the test that were each missed by ten of the editors. The second one is a little surprising; at least, I consider it a basic word that any editor should know.<\/p>\n<p>Pick the spelling preferred by <em>Webster&#8217;s New Collegiate<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>6.<br \/>\n___ supercede<br \/>\n___ superceed<br \/>\n___ supersede<br \/>\n___ superseed<\/p>\n<p>15.<br \/>\n___ miniscule<br \/>\n___ minniscule<br \/>\n___ minnuscule<br \/>\n___ minuscule<\/p>\n<p>Answers after the break . . .<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>6.<br \/>\n___ supercede<br \/>\n___ superceed<br \/>\nX__ supersede<br \/>\n___ superseed<\/p>\n<p>15.<br \/>\n___ miniscule<br \/>\n___ minniscule<br \/>\n___ minnuscule<br \/>\nX__ minuscule<\/p>\n<p>Some might allow <em>supercede <\/em>with a cee, but it is a variant spelling; <em>supersede <\/em>is preferred (needless to say, this only applies to U.S. usage; also, the test referenced W<em>ebster&#8217;s New Collegiate<\/em> as the spelling authority).
