HEXAGRAM 31: CUTTING

Sacrifice may be auspicious.

The Lines (base to top)

Stubby foot with toes chopped off
Ankles on a chopping block
Sharp blades cut slashes in thighs
Run away from the slasher
Mutilated midsection
A chopped off tongue will not wag

Commentary

Lake over mountain. A mountain lake would be a pleasant place to meet friends.

Sometimes things aren't as bad as they seem. The gruesome images of the lines are a caution that this might not be a time for movement or talk.

Give it a rest.
